Job Description

:



Line managed by our Head of Design & Technology, our Design & Technology Technician provides support for the department and students alike, working across all areas of the curriculum in Key Stage 3, 4 and Sixth Form.



Key Duties Include:



o Supporting teaching and learning in Design & Technology.



o Maintaining a safe and organised workshop, ensuring all machinery and



equipment is safe and maintained in line with Health & Safety regulations, thus



ensuring student safety at all times.



o Providing students with access to suitable resources, tools and machinery to



support their progress and achievement.



o Preparing, setting up and maintaining tools, materials and equipment for all



Design & Technology lessons.



o Supporting teaching staff and students during practical lessons by demonstrating



safe and correct usage of workshop equipment and supervising student use of



said equipment.



o Preparing, setting up, and checking equipment for technology lessons.



o Clearing away equipment and maintaining a safe, organised environment.



o Ordering and maintaining an appropriate stock of materials and keeping accurate



records of this.



o Supporting the Head of Department and Health & Safety Assistant with COSHH



and risk assessments for the department.



o Maintaining and carrying out minor repairs on equipment, where appropriate.



o Overseeing any necessary administrative tasks.



o Organising and storing students' work, as applicable.



o Liaising and working with external agencies, as and when required.Responsibilities



Conduct scientific experiments and research activities in accordance with established protocols and safety standards. Perform quality control assessments on samples and processes to ensure accuracy and reliability of results. Utilise Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to record, track, and manage laboratory data efficiently. Analyse experimental data using appropriate mathematical techniques and interpret findings to support project goals. Maintain meticulous documentation of procedures, observations, and results in compliance with regulatory requirements such as FDA regulations. Assist in preparing reports, charts, and presentations summarising research outcomes for internal review and regulatory submissions. Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning optimally. Support ongoing training programmes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory setting.

Qualifications



Proven laboratory experience within a scientific or research environment. Strong understanding of quality control processes and adherence to FDA regulations. Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data accurately. Solid knowledge of scientific principles related to laboratory work, including chemistry, biology, or related fields. Competency in mathematical calculations relevant to laboratory measurements and data analysis. Good organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Relevant qualifications in science or a related discipline are highly desirable. Pay: 120.00-140.00 per day
