We have an exciting opportunity for a Early Days in Custody Nurse to join our Early Days in Custody team at HMP Thameside, a category B Prison located in Greenwich, South-East London.
In this role you'll be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed.
Hours
The site currently offers a 24-hour service and the shift patterns are as follows:
Long Day: 07:30 - 19:45
Late long day: 10.00 - 22:00
You will be expected to work a mix of shifts however a late finish and early start will not be included.
Salary
This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to 55,086 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As an Early Days in Custody Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Assess patients and carry out relevant clinical investigations on arrival.
• Arrange follow-up appointments for them whilst offering advice and giving information.
• Clinically evaluate and ensure the safe transfer of patients to acute hospitals if needed, as well as ensuring that plans of care are understood by the patient and the prison as appropriate.
• Support in undertaking audits and governance.

Requirements

• NMC registered nurse - Adult
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development
• Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
• Excellent communication skills
• Proactive problem solving skills
• Motivated as an individual and when working in a team

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
