This part-time, fixed-term role is funded by the SENDAP Change Programme and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to inclusive early years education across Portsmouth.

The Service

Early Years Inclusion is part of the PCC Early Years' Service that aims to improve and support outcomes for young children with additional needs and promote inclusive practice and cultures across the PVI and the wider educational sector.

The Role

As part of the Early Years Inclusion team and the Portsmouth Ethnic Minority Achievement Service (EMAS), you will:

Collaborate within the Local Inclusion Support Offer (LISO) to deliver coordinated support for EAL learners in Early Years (EY) settings and Year R provisions. Provide expert guidance to EY settings and schools to enhance inclusive practices for children with English as an Additional Language (EAL). Support assessment, planning, and progress tracking for EAL learners using targeted strategies and interventions. Advise on EYFS practice to foster inclusive environments and cultures. Design and deliver professional development training for the EY workforce. Co-develop assessment resources with EMAS and pilot these in EY settings. Lead transition planning for EAL children entering school, involving parents and professionals. Analyse data to identify gaps in provision and develop strategic support plans. Maintain accurate records and produce reports as required.

The ideal candidate will have /be:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Leadership experience in a mainstream school Proven experience supporting children with EAL Strong understanding of EYFS learning and development Experience in assessing needs and planning interventions Ability to measure progress and demonstrate impact

Excellent interpersonal skills: empathy, diplomacy, and respect Collaborative team player with strong communication skills High level of literacy and numeracy; capable of data analysis and report writing Organised and able to manage competing priorities Flexible and responsive to team needs Proficient in IT and open to learning new systems Committed to ongoing professional development Able to travel across the city Awareness of and commitment to inclusive practice

You are required to be fully trained in Safeguarding and Integrated Working at the level relevant to this post; this training will be delivered in post. You must adhere to the agreed Safeguarding and Integrated Working Policy and Guidelines in line with PCC and Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Board requirements.

We offer hybrid working with the expectation to attend to visit Schools & Early Years settings the majority of the time, with some WFH and office working to suit the need of the business.
