Early Years practitioners work in a range of settings including full day care, children's centres, preschools, reception classes and as childminders. Early years practitioners are also known as nursery nurses. They are specialists who look after the social and educational development of babies and young children up to the age of five years old.
Day-to-day duties may involve:
Assist teaching staff as required, including helping individual children and groups with the full range of curriculum activities and use of information technology as appropriate.
Prepare, display and mount work, set out equipment/materials for educational use under the direction of Class Teachers.
In collaboration with Class Teachers, ensure classrooms and other teaching areas are kept in a tidy state and that equipment and materials are stored correctly.
Undertake supervision of children in the playground and dining room as determined by the Principal/Vice Principal/Business Manager.
Liaise with teachers and other staff at the school to obtain, exchange and record information on individual children.
Assist at an appropriate level, and within the school's protocols, with the provision of general care and welfare of pupils which may include assistance with the personal hygiene routines, e.g. toilet training, changing of incontinent children, dressing and undressing; the changing of soiled clothing and its disposal in an appropriate way.
Assisting with children's injuries and, where appropriately qualified, administering first aid.
Assist with the administering of medicines under the direction of the Academy's Medicine Policy.
Assist with the identification and monitoring of children's general health and welfare.
Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
Assist with tasks in respect of classroom activities as required including maintaining library books records; classroom supplies and general classroom duties such as photocopying, filing etc.
Assist Class Teachers in preparing and supervising outings and visits as required.
Attend staff meetings as necessary.
Assist supply staff with daily classroom routine as determined by Class Teacher.
And such duties as are within the scope, the salary grade and the spirit of the job purpose, the title of the post, and its grading.

Training for this qualification will be provided by ourselves at SCCU Group, an Ofsted good training provider. Our tuition is all delivered in the workplace and bespoke to your particular role.
Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Standard, 12 months practical with an additional 2 months End Point Assessment period
Functional Skills in Maths, English, and ICT (if required)
Working Week and Hours:
37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm, Friday 8:30am-4.00pm)
Eligibility criteria
You must be 19+
Have lived in the UK for the past 3 years
Not currently in education
Currently unemployed or in receipt of low wag (Under 25,000)
