We have 3 fantastic prospects for the position of Early Years Assistant within our Early Years team based at the Mencap Centre Belfast. Do you have a passion for making a difference for young people with a learning disability?

Would you like to work at the Mencap Centre, where it is the only place of its sort? This is where very young children with a learning disability and their parents can get specialist help and support.

The Early Years Assistant roles are 35 hours per week and on a fixed term contract until November 2024.

Mencap Early Years provides a programme of play, therapy, care and teaching for 3-4 year old\'s with sizable developmental delay.

  • The post holder will assist with the provision of a stimulating, caring and therapeutic play atmosphere.
  • You will work safely and in compliance with our internal and external requirements. This is so that the people we support can trust, feel safe and have confidence in the support we provide them.
  • The job requires a passionate and caring character to provide a inspiring atmosphere to the children we support.
Do you have?
  • Knowledge of child development
  • The skill to plan for/ provide a developmentally appropriate atmosphere
  • Childcare qualification at QCF Level 3 equivalent in Child Care, Learning and Development or Playwork, or a relevant occupational qualification (as stated by Daycare Minimum Standards)
  • Experience working with families and children aged 0-4
  • The skill to work with confidence and in unison within a multi-disciplinary team
  • To be able to work flexible hours and committed to supporting children with learning disability
Please note: Early Years is open during term times and employees work 47 weeks of the year.
