Overview

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic

Nursery Cook

to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing nutritious, balanced meals that support the growth and wellbeing of young children. This role requires someone who is passionate about healthy eating, understands the importance of food safety, and enjoys being part of a nurturing early years environment.

Duties

Plan, prepare, and cook healthy, balanced meals and snacks in line with children's dietary needs and preferences. Ensure all food is prepared and served safely, following food hygiene and allergy management procedures. Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment at all times. Manage food supplies, including ordering, stock rotation, and minimising waste. Work closely with nursery staff to coordinate meal times and support the smooth running of the daily routine. Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, promoting a caring and welcoming atmosphere. Participate in training and professional development to stay up to date with food safety and early years best practices.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience in cooking and food preparation, ideally within a nursery, school, or catering setting. Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (Food Hygiene Certificate preferred). Ability to plan nutritious menus that meet children's dietary requirements and allergies. Excellent organisation and time management skills. Friendly, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. A genuine passion for creating healthy meals and contributing to a positive nursery environment. Strong understanding of Safer Food Better Business Pack and able to complete daily logs

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 30 per week
