About Our Setting
Hippy Kids is an Early Years setting in South Portslade near to Vale Park. Our Playschool is at South Portslade Community Centre and we care for children aged 6 months to 4 years.
We are a small and friendly team of Early Years Educators with low staff turnover and an excellent local reputation.
Our family business is now 19 years old, and we are looking for an additional Early Years Educators to join our team.
We provide nurturing care for babies and children under 5.
We pride ourselves on our child led ethos, following children's interests through play and close relationships.
We run a weekly messy playgroup and visit our local nursing home.
Hippy Kids Playschool is a Reggio Emilia inspired vision for children. The children being the centre of everything we do, and the environment being the third teacher. We occupy a beautiful, light and spacious hall, a nurturing baby room and a beautiful forest garden.
We like to enjoy nature as much as we can, celebrating seasons of the year and learning about the world around us. We have a loving pedagogy and very close relationships with the children, their families and the local community.
We work together as a close team to provide opportunities to meet the children's needs and interests.
We use open ended questions and resources to promote independence and critical thinking.
About the job
We are looking to recruit an experienced Early Years Educator who:
has a full and relevant Level 3 qualification.
has experience of working in an early years setting
is playful, enthusiastic, and passionate.
understands the importance of creating a nurturing environment for our children and families.
is experienced with following children's interests and helping them to be independent learners.
The job involves:
working with a team of experienced childcare professionals in our Playschool setting, providing care and education for children in the early years age group
working with our child led curriculum.
contributing to stimulating and exciting opportunities for the children in our care
assisting with all aspects of our day with the children - the majority of our week is free play around the usual rhythm of meals and nap times.
contributing to the children's learning journeys
making observations using your knowledge of child development and suggesting next steps that can be achieved organically through play.
using a mixture of face-to-face communication with parents and a software app (full software training provided)
