Job description
Ripponden Preschool provides high quality childcare and education for children of preschool age, in an environment that is safe and stimulating.





Our aim is to develop an inquisitive mind, and be kind and respectful towards others, including ourselves. We offer parents and children a service that provides equality and values diversity, and works in partnership with the local community.





We are a small non-profit making charity which runs from a community centre in a small rural village, providing care, learning through play and support to children and families. We have been established since the early 1970's and have been registered with Ofsted since 1986.





Our opening times are 9.15am until 3.15pm during term time and children can either attend sessional or full days. We welcome all children and families to our setting where each child has their own key person, who's focus is on building a supportive and trustful relationship with the children and families we care for.





We recognise that the children's needs are paramount and must override all other considerations, working in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure these needs are met.





Our curriculum is designed to meet the requirements of the EYFS and is designed to support children's individual developmental needs.





Our staff team is our most important asset and we aim to show this through a supportive and caring work environment. Staff have reflective discussions, regular supervisions and are offered numerous training opportunities within their role.



Key Duties & Responsibilities.




To work with children with a commitment to 'Safeguarding' and have a clear understanding of child protection and early help pathways. To work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the preschool. To support the children's learning and developmental needs, through observation, assessment, and planning with a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children. To have a clear understanding of supporting children and families with SEND needs. To work in partnership with parents and carers in the care of their children and offer support, advice, and guidance when appropriate. To work in partnership with outside agencies and write reports and attend any meetings that are required to support either the health and wellbeing of the children in your care. To participate in all aspects of work, including the organisation and development of the preschool, implementing the daily routine and to give support to other personnel within preschool. To be involved in activities to promote the preschool within the community. To keep up to date with current legislation and childcare practice, and attend training as required.


Essential Criteria




Experience of working with children aged 0 - 5. A good working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection including Prevent Duty. The ability to plan and facilitate appropriate, challenging and exciting activities for children based on their levels of development. An excellent understanding of child development, including understanding children's behaviour. The ability to work well with others, including team members, parents/carers and any other professionals as required. The ability to offer support, advice and guidance to parents and carers when appropriate. Honest, reliable, flexible.




Desirable Qualifications




Level 3 Qualification in Early Years and Childcare.
Paediatric First Aid - or the willingness to undertake this within a 3-month period.
Food Hygiene - or the willingness to undertake this within a 3 month period.
Experience of working with children with SEND and additional needs.
