Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship - Level 5 - Hopton School House Playgroup




Shoots Training are currently recruiting for a punctual, reliable and enthusiastic individual to join Hopton School House Playgroup, as a Deputy Manager.


Hopton School House playgroup is in a 300 year old building and has 20 children, is very personal, homely and friendly


We consist of 2 rooms, a playroom and a craft room


We also have use of a kitchen, office and meeting rooms


Requirements:




Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing. Ability to relate well to children of all ages within the setting and their parents/carers An understanding of the developmental needs of all children including those with special needs. Ability to deliver services in partnership with others. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work on own initiative and direct where necessary. Your roles and responsibilities will include;




To Deputise for Manager as and when required and to be able to perform duties commensurate with that role. Assist with the overall responsibility for the safety and welfare of the children and the efficient day-to-day operation of the setting. To be accountable to the Manager and Chair of the Committee To build relationships primarily with children aged 2-4yrs at the setting, their parents/carers and other staff and volunteers engaged in all activities within the setting. To Deputise for Manager as and when required and to be able to perform duties commensurate with that role. Assist with the overall responsibility for the safety and welfare of the children and the efficient day-to-day operation of the setting. Assist in providing high standards of quality within the setting including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children. To act as a key worker for a given group of children and to ensure that the assessment, monitoring and recording of individual children's development takes place. Observe, support and extend children's learning within the setting. Ensuring that children's learning journal and end of term focus sheets are completed and shared with parents sharing next steps. To communicate children's progress to the Manager and parents at regular intervals. Assist in the planning appropriate for the EYFS and ensure rich and diverse in and outdoor play experiences are offered Maintain accurate and effective children's records including registers and accident/incident recording. Work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members. Demonstrate good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion. Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand, and when necessary follow, Child Protection Procedures. Ensure the nutritional needs of the children are met and Food Safety Regulations are complied with. Comply with the statutory framework for the EYFS and relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 and 2004. Assist in developing and maintaining highly professional working relationships with advisory teachers, schools, and other agencies that may visit the setting. Show patience, understanding and warmth and a sense of fun and enjoy being with children. Learn and keep up to date with current developments in childcare and education policy and practice. Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the setting and ensure the general cleanliness of the children at all times Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures. Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures e.g. fire precautions, security, dropping off and collection of children at the setting. Operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness and where necessary nappy changing area and food surface areas. Promote the setting to current parents and potential customers. Work with the manager and inspectors during inspections by regulatory bodies and to assist in the implementation of any recommendations. Work as a team with other staff members. Support and mentor staff and students. Be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals etc. Help to develop and promote parental partnership and involvement. Assist other duties as reasonably requested by line management. Adhere to all company policies and procedures. Be prepared to undertake additional training and qualifications Attend and be involved with out of working hours activities, e.g. training, planning/staff meetings. Undertake certain domestic jobs within the setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment and other such duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by your manager.

Hours;




Hopton School House Playgroup are open between the hours of 07.30-18.00 Monday-Friday Term Time Only Working hours will be a minimum of 28 hours per week between the hours of 8.30am - 3.30pm

Additional Requirements;




Level 3 childcare qualification on the QCA framework: Knowledge of EYFS Formal Education certificates: including Maths, English A minimum of 12 months experience or working with children aged 2-5 yrs in a similar setting
