Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated lunch time assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and educational mealtime environment for young children. As an Early Years lunch time assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the nutritional and developmental needs of children aged 0-5 years, ensuring they receive the best possible start in their educational journey.

Responsibilities

To provide support for staff and children during lunchtime periods. You will be there to encourage good hygiene, table manners, self-confidence and independence amongst children during mealtimes.

To help serve lunchtime meals safely with an understanding and awareness of managing food allergies effectively and following all related nursery policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in early years education.

To role model and promote safe, positive behaviours at meal times by supervising and interacting with children at the table. Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a welcoming, supportive Environment.

Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all children. To assist with tidying up the lunch service, and supporting children's development through attractive, challenging and purposeful activities and resources.

To promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage children to enjoy and try new foods in a safe and happy environment without pressure.

Support children's emotional well-being and social skills through positive interactions.

Skills

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently. Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health & safety regulations. Relevant qualifications or experience of how to care for, support and meet the needs of young children.

Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: 12.21-12.40 per hour

Expected hours: 12 per week
