About the Role
As Early Years Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of our nursery, ensuring the highest standards of care, education, and safeguarding. You will lead, motivate, and develop a team of early years professionals, fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive. You will work closely with families, external agencies, our committee and the wider community to promote children's wellbeing and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with all relevant Scottish legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice guidance (including the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, GIRFEC, Health and Social Care Standards, and National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2021).
Lead and support staff, including recruitment, induction, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Develop and implement high-quality educational programmes aligned with the Early Years Framework and Realising the Ambition: Being Me.
Ensure robust safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times.
Maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment, conducting regular risk assessments and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
Build strong partnerships with parents, committee, carers, and external agencies.
Manage resources, and administrative tasks efficiently.
Drive continuous improvement through self-evaluation, quality assurance, and engagement with the Care Inspectorate.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
BA in Childhood Practice (or equivalent qualification recognised by the SSSC).
Proven experience in a management or supervisory role within an early years or childcare setting.
Registration with, or eligibility to register with, the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at manager level.
Sound knowledge of early childhood development, safeguarding, and current Scottish policy and practice.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
