We are currently looking for a caring and committed Baby Room Practitioner to join our friendly team.

2 years minimum experience of working with babies under 2



Role Overview:


As a Baby Room Practitioner, you will be responsible for the day to day care of babies aged 0-2 years.

You will play a crucial role in supporting their early development, forming close bonds with both the children and their families, and creating a loving and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Child Development & Learning



Support the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of children. Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote learning through play. Observe, assess, and record children's progress in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

2. Safeguarding & Welfare



Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children in your care. Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to protect children from harm. Conduct risk assessments and maintain a safe environment at all times.

3. Planning & Curriculum Support



Work as part of a team to plan and implement a rich and varied curriculum. Adapt plans to suit individual learning needs, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Use observations to inform next steps in children's learning.

4. Relationship Building



Build strong, positive relationships with children to foster a secure and nurturing environment. Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and carers, providing feedback and updates. Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals (e.g. speech therapists, health visitors).

5. Daily Care Routines



Support daily routines including meals, toileting, rest, and hygiene. Encourage independence and self-help skills in children. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the preschool room.

6. Record-Keeping & Reporting



Keep accurate records of children's development, incidents, accidents, and concerns. Contribute to children's learning journals and reports for parents and regulatory bodies.

7. Professional Development



Attend training and staff meetings as required. Stay informed of changes in early years policies and practices. Reflect on your own practice and seek opportunities for improvement.

Essential Requirements:



1.

Qualifications



Level 2 or Level 3 qualification

in Early Years Education/Childcare (e.g. CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent). Paediatric

First Aid Certificate

(often required or expected to obtain shortly after starting).

Safeguarding training

(Level 1 or higher, depending on the setting).

Experience



Proven experience working with preschool-aged children (typically 3-5 years). Experience planning and implementing EYFS-based activities. Understanding of child development and individual learning needs.

Knowledge



Good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) including changes to the framework 2025 Awareness of

safeguarding

and

child protection

procedures. Familiarity with

SEND

and inclusive practices.
4.

Skills & Attributes



Strong communication skills (with children, colleagues, and parents). Team player with a positive, flexible attitude. Ability to observe, assess, and record children's progress. Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy early years environment.
