Dragonflies Pre-School is open between 07:30 and 17:30pm Monday to Friday - Term Time Only.

Job Summary



Dragonflies Pre-School has a special opportunity for the right person to join our small, dedicated team.

The required hours are: o Monday: 9AM - 5:30 PM o Tuesday: 9AM - 3:30PM o Friday: 12PM - 5:30 PM (Term time - only)

More hours may be available, if required.

We are seeking a nurturing and committed Early Years Practitioner with a Level 2 or 3 qualification and a good understanding of the EYFS and Development Matters. A Forest School qualification and a love for the outdoors are wonderful bonuses, but genuine passion and commitment matter most.

This role goes beyond simply enjoying time with children, it's about nurturing each child as an individual and supporting their growth with care and purpose.

Duties



Foster a warm and welcoming environment that encourages curiosity and learning. Plan and deliver age-appropriate educational activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Observe and record children's learning and development, keeping key children's files updated to reflect their individual progress. Maintain accurate, meaningful records that celebrate each child's achievements and daily experiences. Liaise with setting SENCO to support children's individual needs. Communicate effectively with parents and carers about children's development, progress, and well-being, building positive and supportive relationships. Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver programmes that meet each child's individual needs and promote their learning and growth. Supervise and actively engage with children to maintain a safe and supportive environment at all times. Be aware of each child's allergies, medical needs, and dietary requirements, ensuring all food and snacks provided meet individual nutritional and safety needs. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including hygiene standards. Assist with organising outings in accordance with organisational policies and procedures. To share responsibility with other staff the set up/tidy up of activities and the room before and after sessions, the sorting, tidying, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and toys. Be flexible within working practices of the pre-school, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snacks, cleaning of equipment etc. To support other staff within the available spaces both indoors and out and to work individually and as part of a team. To attend monthly staff meetings.

Skills



Proven experience working with children in childcare settings. Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood education principles, frameworks, and best practices. Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues Organised with the ability to plan engaging activities effectively Compassionate, patient, and attentive to individual children's needs
