EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER -



Full Time 40 hours - 4 x 10hours or 5 x 8hours per week.



Acorns Early Years Centre is a charity run nursery offering childcare to children aged 5 months - 5 years. We also have a after school and Holiday Club

We have an exciting opportunity within our our 3 to 4 year old room.

KEY OBJECTIVES



- To work as part of the nursery team, showing initiative and creativity to foster an environment which encourages the children's all round development and where high standards of care are provided.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY



OPERATIONAL



Be a reliable member of the team, working co-operatively and with flexibility. To provide a happy, safe, secure, stimulating and attractive environment in which the children in the room can thrive and parents can feel reassured they are safe and secure. To work in partnership with parents, encouraging them to participate in their child's progress and development. To observe their key children's progress and report on their achievements, looking for progression and continuity. To assist in planning and organising activities and opportunities - suitable for the age range of the children - that inspire and extend children's learning and encourage independence in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage. To ensure that continuous provision and free flow play occurs at all times and meets the children's individual needs. To be alert to issues of Safeguarding/Child Protection ensuring that the welfare of all the children attending Acorns Early Years Centre is promoted and safeguarded and to report any Child Protection concerns to Acorns Early Years Centre's Child Protection Officer. Following Acorns Early Years Centre's procedures for the positive management of children's behaviour. To attend Parents Evenings, be involved in fundraising events and assist with the promotion of Acorns Early Years Centre as required.

PERSONAL



To provide a positive role model to all colleagues, children and parents. To attend staff meetings and development days as required. Participate in training and self-development activities, including appraisals. To develop positive relationships with other staff members working within Acorns Early Years Centre. To support students, volunteers and regular visitors to Acorns Early Years Centre.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout Acorns Early Years Centre. Ensure the general cleanliness of the children at all times. Operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the room. To be aware of the outcome of Risk Assessments and to fully implement the specified controls. To maintain allergy management systems in line with Acorns Early Years Centre Policy To ensure that Acorns Early Years Centre's medicine procedures are adhered to. To set an example in personal hygiene and appearance, dressing in a comfortable and suitable manner in the work situation. To assist with the development of the children's personal and social skills, e.g. toileting, washing, dressing, use of cutlery etc. To have clear knowledge of procedures to be followed in the case of emergency e.g. fire and accidents
