Job Description

St Margarets Nursery & Pre-school is a highly reputable nursery and is currently looking to recruit more experienced Early Years Practitioners to join our amazing team.

We are a busy 121-place nursery.

This post is for our Craigmillar Park nursery; however, we have a sister nursery at Craiglockhart Avenue.

Qualifications



To be recognised and registered by SSSC as an Early Years Practitioner

you must

have SVQ Level 3, Level 4, BA in Childhood Practice or HNC. GTC registered or equivalent in Early Education is accepted.

If you do not have these qualifications, you can still apply, and, if successful, you will be put onto the course.

Salary Expectations



We are a living wage employer and ALL of our staff receive above living wage.

All Early Years Practitioners start on a

minimum

of 29,500 per year.

If you would like to progress your career, we have 2 settings in Edinburgh.

Our Senior Early Years salaries start on minimum of 16 per hour - 31,616 per year.

All of our nurseries are filled with the very best resources. As you can imagine with many children using them each day, we replenish and upgrade whenever needed. We have a great reputation for taking care and heavily investing back into our indoor and outdoor environments for the children and staff.

Job Information



Working 38 hours per week, between 7:45 am - 6 pm, 4 days per week with 1 full day off. Other options are available to discuss

We currently have vacancies available with all our age groups; we are open to discussions on room/age preferences. Please state which age groups would be your preference in your cover letter.

Children do not arrive until 8 am; this allows staff to communicate important messages before the day starts. Our last pick up is at 5:50 pm, this allows our staff time to debrief each day and tidy up - this means at 6 pm you can leave on time to get home to your own family and friends. Staff are not required to clean the setting after their hours, we have professional cleaners who attend the setting 7 pm - 11 pm every night to clean.

Key elements of the post:



Setting up exciting and inviting learning environments. Plan, observe, evaluate and reflect on learning experiences for the children. Ensure experiences are age and stage-appropriate and/or appropriate for the individual child. Ensure the health and safety, cleaning & outdoor checklists are carried out prior to the nursery opening and where applicable throughout the day. Positively communicate with parents/guardians to ensure we are up to date with the child's routine i.e. sleep patterns, mealtimes development etc. Ensure floor books, self-evaluation, playroom practice observations are up to date and reflect the children's voice. Work as part of a key worker system, ensuring you know your key children's individual needs, next steps and achievements. Effective use of Edinburgh Council toolkits and contribution towards self-evaluation across the nursery setting, using How Good is Our Early Learning and Childcare and Building the Ambition. Be a reflective practitioner who will role model and work with a team. Adhere to St Margarets Nursery & Pre-school's policies and procedures. Always have a polite, professional and approachable manner. Create a safe and stimulating learning environment and provide a high standard of care for the children. Keep up to date with all Early Years documents, regulations, Child Acts, and new policies and procedures that are regularly changing.
