Job Purpose



To support the learning, development, health, and wellbeing of children aged 0-5 years by providing high-quality, nurturing, and responsive care in line with

Key Responsibilities



Supporting Children's Learning & Development



Support high-quality play and learning experiences that reflect

Realising the Ambition

and the

Early Level of Curriculum for Excellence

. Respond to children's interests and developmental needs using play-based, child-led approaches. Observe, assess, and contribute to planning for children's learning and development. Support children's emotional wellbeing and attachment through warm, responsive interactions. Promote inclusive practice and support children with additional support needs. Observe and implement the policies and procedures of our nursery always. Adhere and follow the nursery improvement plan

Health, Wellbeing & Care



Meet children's care needs including feeding, toileting, changing, rest, and comfort in a respectful and nurturing manner. Promote children's health, wellbeing, and independence. Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that supports children's wellbeing. Follow infection control, hygiene, and health and safety procedures at all times.

Safeguarding & GIRFEC



Uphold the principles of

GIRFEC

, ensuring children are safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible, and included. Follow child protection and safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately. Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Be receptive and intuitive for potential home environment issues or changes that may involve child protection issues and collaborate with the nursery and other agencies as appropriate. Ensure all aspects of security for children within the nursery environment at all times and make sure all exits and entrances are secure.

Working with Families & Others



Build positive, respectful relationships with parents and carers. Share information about children's experiences, learning, and wellbeing. Work collaboratively with colleagues and, where appropriate, external agencies.

Professional Practice & Teamwork



Work effectively as part of a team to deliver high-quality early learning and childcare. Contribute to self-evaluation and continuous improvement. Attend training and engage in ongoing professional learning. Follow all policies, procedures, and Care Inspectorate requirements.
