Job Description

We are looking for a warm, caring and compassionate Early Years Practitioner which will work closely with teachers and families to ensure young children with complex needs can thrive.

This specialist and inclusive school located in the small town of Pudsey, prides themselves on creating strong relationships with both children and parents. With several specialist pathways across multiple sites, they ensure that even from a young age each child learns in the environment that best meets their needs. With your help, these children can reach their full potential in a fun and exciting way.

Core Responsibilities as an Early Years Practitioner:



Planning and delivering activities using a play-based and sensory approach

Ensuring children's emotional and physical needs are met and protecting them from harm

Setting up secure, inclusive and engaging spaces for children

Deliver 1:1 or small group interventions

Use or be willing to use communication strategies to develop an understanding of children's thoughts, feelings and ideas

Support pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs

The Ideal Candidate:



Experience working with young children in a school or nursery setting (school, tutoring or childcare similar)

Have a nurturing, patient nature and a genuine passion for aiding in the engagement of learning

A proactive and collaborative mindset

Encourage confidence and resilience using an inspiring, warm approach

Qualifications and Skills:



A current DBS that is registered with the update service (if you do not currently have one, we can assist in applying for one)

A childcare/ care qualification or equivalent

Previous background working with or supporting young children with SEND

Be flexible, reliable and punctual

Working Hours



Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm

Term-time only

Part-time and full-time availability

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
