Prenton Prep. is a co-educational school founded in Prenton in 1935. It moved to its present site in Oxton in 1974. Nestling in the heart of Oxton's conservation area, the charming sand-stone building stands in attractive mature gardens.

Well known for its friendly, family atmosphere, Prenton Prep. maintains a sound traditional approach to education and behaviour whilst daily reinforcing social skills, mutual respect and consideration for others.

The main aim of the school is to cater for the educational needs of our pupils in a caring, nurturing, disciplined and stimulating environment, liaising closely with the home to the benefit of the individual child.

THE NURSERY AT PRENTON PREPARATORY SCHOOL



Part of the Forfar Education family of schools and nurseries, Prenton Preparatory School Nursery is a successful and thriving child-led nursery for children aged 2 to 4 years old. We offer a lovely setting which has been carefully designed to create a welcoming space for our children, from the lighting, textures and outdoor play areas, to the inspiring books, prints and large variety of resources, every detail has been carefully thought through.

Due to increased enrolment, we are currently looking to recruit a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioners to work on a full time and part time basis within our dedicated and friendly nursery team.

Position - Early Years Practitioners (Full Time & Part Time)

Working Hours



We are offering 40 hours per week (Full Time) and 20 hours per week (Part Time) on flexible working patterns based on a 5 day week.

Working all year round with 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Job Overview



The Early Years Practitioner will be expected to work in conjunction with the teaching staff to provide for the physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs of the children. The Early Years Practitioner will be expected to share in the responsibility for creating a stimulating, caring environment and to value every child in their care. You must be a reliable and conscientious individual who commits themselves to their work and to be successful in this role you must be creative and committed to a career within Early Years Education.

Duties and Responsibilities as an Early Years Practitioner :



To create and secure a commitment to learning which enthuses pupils and motivates them to do well through:

To promote the philosophy of 'learning through play'.

To work within the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum framework.

To plan prepare and participate in a range of activities that promote each child's physical, intellectual, and emotional needs to enable each child to reach their full potential.

To participate in creating a child's learning journey using the Blossom online journal.

To implement activities which encourage linguistic and social interaction between the children and other adults.

To communicate with parents/carers about the day-to-day needs of the children by fostering parental involvement and encouraging positive parenting skills.

To help children acquire self-help skills including dressing, feeding, toilet training, and an awareness of personal hygiene.

To attend staff and department meetings as appropriate.

To help ensure that the nursery meets safety and hygiene requirements and to report any issues to a senior member of staff.

To be aware of and comply with the school Safeguarding Policy, confidentiality, procedures, and other Whole School and EYFS policies.

To keep up to date with the developments in childcare and parent education through regular training as appropriate.

To undertake any additional duties as might be reasonably requested by the Headteacher.

Person Specification



Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification (or equivalent).

Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to complete upon appointment).

GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).

Experience of leading a room or key group for children aged 2-4 years.

Strong understanding of EYFS and child development.

Basic knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and other barriers to learning, including ASD, Visual Impairments, Physical Disabilities, and Mental Health.

Ability to work collaboratively and form positive professional relationships

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work on their own initiative and be part of a team

Communicate effectively in a wide variety of forms to a range of audiences

Flexibility and ability to adapt and demonstrate initiative.

An ability to work effectively within a team

Safeguarding



Prenton Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including online checks, references from previous employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The School will carry out online searches on shortlisted candidates as part of the process of assessing suitability. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
