We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for working with young children. This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters learning and development for children in their formative years. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing educational activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and collaborating with parents to support each child's growth.
Duties:
Supporting Children's Learning and Development
Plan, deliver, and evaluate play-based learning experiences.
Support children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Encourage curiosity, creativity, independence, and resilience.
Observe children to identify needs, interests, and progress.
Help children develop early literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
Providing Care
Ensure children's health, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
Support with personal care (e.g., toileting, hygiene, feeding if required).
Provide nurturing, consistent routines that help children feel secure.
Creating a Positive Environment
Set up safe, stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments.
Promote inclusive practice, valuing diversity and supporting all children.
Encourage positive behaviour, relationships, and social skills.
Working with Others
Work as part of a team with colleagues, teachers, and other professionals.
Build strong partnerships with parents/carers, sharing updates on children's progress.
Support transitions (e.g., from nursery to primary school).
Professional Responsibilities
Keep records of observations, assessments, and planning.
Follow national guidance and local authority policies.
Undertake continuous professional development (CPD) and training.
Recognised Qualifications
(one of the below is essential)
SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) at SCQF Level 7
HNC Childhood Practice (SCQF Level 7)
NC Early Education & Childcare (SCQF Level 6)
Availability:
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours, including bank and public holidays, as the service operates year-round. Our operating hours are 07:30 to 18:00, with shifts allocated to cover mornings, afternoons, or mid-day periods as necessary. Rotas are provided one week in advance.
