The nursery nurse will work in partnership with the Senior, the Management Team, the SENCO and the Safeguarding officer to ensure we are providing a caring, safe and stimulating environment where each child will thrive and can meet their fullest potential. They will feel their voices are being heard.
Duties
To follow the nursery's induction programme and become familiar with all of the policies and procedures, and successfully complete all CRB/DBS checks.
Understand and implement safeguarding in your everyday practice. Keep updated with changes and developments to legislation. Understand and be confident in implementing procedures for dealing with disclosures, reporting and recording of any safeguarding matters in regards to the children's or colleagues welfare. To know who the safeguarding officers are and complete all training.
To build positive relationships with the children, parents and colleagues and have good oral and written communication.
To support the Seniors, other staff and the management team. To support other workers learning such as apprentices and college students, promoting good practice.
To support children's learning and holistic development through working with them in groups and keyworker time. To plan activities for both indoors and outdoors that are age appropriate and that can challenge the children to ask questions and be inquisitive.
To be respectful of all cultures and religious beliefs and promote equality, British Values and diversity.
To know and understand the EYFS, to help with planning and know how to implement letters and sounds. To keep up to date with any changes to legislation in regards the curriculum
To have key children and implement the keyworker system.
To share responsibility for the presentation of the room and children's work.
To plan, prepare and set out and clear away activities, materials and resources in co-operation with the children and other staff.
To maintain the security and safety of the nursery by following opening and closing routines, signing children in/out and reporting any damage to management/maintenance team as soon as possible.
To supervise the children at all times, being involved in their learning and their play..
To promote a healthy lifestyle to the children with good role modelling.
To keep a written record of children progress through their learning and progress development reports, and to be able to communicate effectively with parents, children and colleagues.
To cover in other rooms should it be required, and take on extra duties and cover should the nursery need this.
To attend all training organised for you and be committed to ongoing professional development.
To attend staff meetings, parents evenings, and nursery events.
To refrain from using social media in relation to Poplars, and there is a complete ban on using personal phones and technology.
To work alongside outside professionals such as health visitors, SALT etc.
To complete records for medication, accidents, incident, pre-existing forms, and administer first aid when required.
