As a Room Leader, you will oversee the daily running of your room, support your team in planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities, and ensure high standards of care and education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, and play a key role in fostering a lifelong love for learning.
This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to supporting each child's individual development.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong leadership and guidance to your room team, promoting a positive, professional, and supportive environment.
Lead and motivate your room team to provide high-quality care and learning experiences.
Plan, prepare, and deliver stimulating activities based on the EYFS framework.
Ensure all children's individual needs are met through observation, assessment, and tailored planning.
Maintain accurate records of children's progress and development.
Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback and support.
Ensure that all safeguarding, health, and safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Support the Nursery Manager and Deputy in the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery.
Supervise, coach, and support junior staff and apprentices in your room.
Promote inclusive practice and ensure equal opportunities for all children.
Contribute to a positive and professional working environment and nursery culture.
Requirements
Minimum Level 3 qualification
in Early Years Education or equivalent (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, or Diploma).
Previous experience
working as a Room Leader or Senior Nursery Practitioner.
Strong understanding of the
EYFS framework
and child development principles.
Excellent
leadership, communication, and organisational
skills.
A caring, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
Flexibility to work a range of shifts
between nursery opening hours, as required.
Paediatric First Aid
,
Safeguarding
, and
Food Hygiene
training (or willingness to obtain).
A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their growth and development.
