Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work at a beautiful village Pre-school, under the direction of the Leader and Management Committee. At St Michaels, we focus on supporting every child to reach their full potential through fun and engaging play opportunities. You will be working with a dedicated team in a caring, family friendly, characterful, and stimulating environment which is inviting to children, parents, and staff. We offer the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to children aged 2 - 5 years.

We are seeking to recruit a skilled and knowledgeable early years practitioner with room leader and SEND experience ranging from early identification through to complex needs. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships within our team. Your role will be to advise and support them to offer inclusive and challenging EYFS teaching and learning experiences to 2-4-year-olds with an identified level of SEND. You will also be responsible for developing and strengthening relationships with parents and supporting them through the SEND journey.

Responsibilities



Be aware of the setting's responsibilities according to the SEND code of
practice and ensure these are incorporated in the daily practice.

Follow the graduated approach for early identification and plan and
implement interventions and strategies to improve children's outcomes

Liaise with parents and external agencies Hold transition meetings with schools and agree arrangements for a smooth
transition

Identify training needs for staff development Develop and implement engaging educational programmes that promote the physical, emotional, and social development of children. Foster a safe and inclusive environment where children feel valued and supported. Observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians on their development. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of the nursery, including managing daily routines and activities. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe learning environment that meets health and safety standards. Drive initiatives that promote children's well-being and encourage their curiosity through play-based learning. Consistently meet all the EYFS safeguarding and welfare requirements and education curriculum, delivering standards which ensure the highest possible Ofsted inspection grading.

Requirements



Minimum relevant Early Years Level 3 qualification Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years early years SEND experience in a pre-school/nursery setting Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development. Ability to drive initiatives that foster creativity and learning in an early years setting. A commitment to continuous professional development in early years education. Sound knowledge of safeguarding Must be able to demonstrate a high level of practice and knowledge. You must work in a professional, confidential manner, be honest, reliable, enthusiastic, motivated, and meet the needs of the setting.

Starting salary: Negotiable.

Length of contract: 12 months with the potential for a permanent contract.

Hours of work: We are open Monday-Friday, TERM TIME ONLY. The management committee will consider some flexibility of hours for the right candidate.

Due to the nature of this role, candidates will be subject to UK eligibility checks together with DBS and all other relevant checks. Safeguarding children is paramount within our setting. If your application is successful, you will be invited for an in-depth interview. Any discrepancies in your application will be questioned. Candidates will need to provide suitable referees, one of which MUST be your current/most recent employee.
