Job Description

Purpose of the job: To provide safe, high quality education and care for pre-school children; to fulfil legal and statutory requirements; to work as a keyworker to up to 10 children providing planning, evidence and documenting development through their learning journeys; to contribute to and follow pre-school policies and procedures. To plan a short session daily for the oldest children based on the Twinkl phase 1 Phonics system using a multi sensory approach. To promote and develop speaking and listening skills through activities and games.

This position is term time, 16 hours per week

Main duties:

To implement all areas as appropriate of the Early Years Foundation Stage and The Welfare requirements.

1. To take responsibility for individual curriculum planning for your key children termly. To provide resources and activities to enable children to reach their full potential and early learning goals. To document evidence of children's progress through observations/photographs/parental comments, and update your key children's learning journey at the end of every term. To write assessments termly

2. To be responsible for providing a high quality of teaching offering appropriate stimulation and support to all children. To plan the medium term planning with input from the rest of the team for all areas including the Characteristics of effective learning and the 3 I's.

3. To identify in-service training needs and attend training as necessary to keep up to date with current regulatory and legal requirements.

4. To attend yearly appraisals and termly supervision meetings with the Manager to discuss training needs and professional development.

5. To ensure records are properly maintained, eg. Risk assessment, accident and incident book, visitors book, fire book, sleep book etc. daily.

6. To liase closely with parents/carers, informing them about the pre-school and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parental involvement. To attend 2 parents evening per year.

7. To ensure that the pre-school is a safe environment for children, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and evacuations and lockdowns are regularly practiced.

8. To contribute to and implement all pre-school policies and procedures, especially those updated as necessary from continuous professional development courses.

9. To contribute towards SEND planning and assessments.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Minimum Early Years Teacher Status

Minimum 1 years experience in Early years childcare and education.

A sound understanding of child development and of children's needs.

Ability to plan and implement a pre-school curriculum.

Ability to work with parents and to encourage their involvement.

Commitment to equal opportunities and understanding of religious and cultural diversity.

Ability to write clear reports.
