Early Years Teaching Assistant - SEND Support

Sense Education is seeking a compassionate and reliable early years teaching assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in an early years setting in Carlisle. This role is ideal for someone with a recognised TA or childcare qualification who is passionate about inclusion and helping children thrive from the very start of their learning journey.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with SEND Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering inclusive, play-based learning activities Support the social, emotional, and communication needs of young children Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment Contribute to observations, assessments, and the development of individual support plans Foster positive relationships with children, staff, and parents/carers
Requirements:

A recognised teaching assistant or childcare qualification (Level 2 or above) Experience working in an early years setting Understanding of SEND and a commitment to inclusive education Strong communication skills and a proactive, supportive attitude Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
