This role is subject to -
Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.
In 2018 Manchester City Council established a formal partnership with renowned environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy. As well as tackling litter and fly-tipping, Keep Britain Tidy manage Eco Schools in the UK. Eco Schools is the largest educational programme in the world and supports children and young people to make a positive impact.
More than 25 thousand pupils took part in Manchester's Eco Schools last year. Head teachers tell us that the programme has given pupils a huge range of opportunities and has helped both pupils and the school to learn and grow whilst positively impacting the environment.
The Keep Manchester Tidy partnership has an ambition for all Manchester schools to achieve an Eco Schools Green Flag award. This role provides a unique and exciting opportunity to help achieve this and to help enable schools to lead the way in having a positive impact on the environment.
The role will sit within Keep Manchester Tidy in the Waste, Recycling and Street Cleansing Team and is a job share with the current post holder.
What You'll do in the Role:

• Be the City Council's lead for all things Eco Schools and work alongside colleagues in a range of other service areas including education, children's, neighbourhoods and social value.
• Engage, inspire, and work in partnership with people at all levels from early years pupils and their teachers to school governors and elected members
• Manage the development of an offer for Eco Schools which will help them to excel on their Eco School journey
• Design and deliver a tool kit to help schools and early years to implement effective litter and waste management planning
