Location: Cwmbran (Hybrid, Office and Site) with travel across Wales and England



Contract: Permanent



Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (flexibility required for occasional nights/weekends)

RSS Infrastructure is seeking a motivated

ecologist

to join our ecology and managed environments divisions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects across Wales and England, providing ecological clerk of works (ECoW), ecological appraisals, and protected species surveys. ecological expertise and support to clients and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities



Conduct ecological surveys and assessments in line with legislation, guidelines, and CIEEM best practice. Prepare detailed ecological reports, including mitigation strategies and habitat management plans. Provide ecological advice to clients and liaise with statutory bodies and stakeholders. Manage projects effectively, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery. Stay up to date with ecological legislation and best practice. Support business development through proposals and tenders.

Requirements



Proven experience in an ecological role, particularly as Clerk of Works. Experience conducting protected species surveys (e.g., bats, great crested newts, dormice, reptiles). Strong understanding of relevant legislation (Wildlife and Countryside Act, Habitats Regulations). Degree in Ecology or equivalent. Membership of CIEEM. Protected species licences (e.g., bats, dormice). First Aid at Work, Manual Handling training. Full UK driving licence. Excellent report writing and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational and project management skills. PTS, COSS, SMSTS, IOSH, CSCS (Desirable)
