Do you have a curious mind and a keen eye for detail? Are you passionate about lifestyle publishing, with a particular interest in popular psychology, health and wellbeing, and personal development?
DK LIFE is looking for an engaging Editor to join our editorial team. In this role, you'll support multiple projects while collaborating with creative colleagues to bring fresh ideas to life.
DK LIFE specialises in books about all things lifestyle: from gardening and food & drink, to health, self-help & wellbeing, and home & handicrafts . Our programme - published in the UK and around the world - is the home of a wonderful family of authors including Rachel Barr, Mary Berry, Daisy Buchanan, Jamie Butterworth, Monty Don, Julius Fiedler, Dominic Franks, Caroline Idiens, Asma Khan, Christina Kynigos, Rhiannon Lambert, Katie Piper, and Pollyanna Wilkinson. It's an exciting time to join our growing division, as we expand our colour and narrative non-fiction lists with brilliant books that help readers live their best lives.
We're seeking someone who is:
Proactive and self-motivated, with a talent for generating ideas and seeing them through.
Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
An effective communicator, able to liaise with authors, designers, and sales teams.
Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
A collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with others.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the editorial team in the timely delivery and quality control of various print and digital projects.
Reviewing proofs and updating content to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Assisting in the preparation of sales materials and contributing to marketing campaigns.
Conducting research and developing ideas for new projects alongside the team.
Nurturing relationships with authors and external contributors to enhance project outcomes.
We are looking for someone with proven experience in narrative non-fiction who takes pride in producing high-quality work. You thrive in a collaborative environment and know how to lend support to your colleagues when needed. Excellent time management skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise tasks to keep projects moving forward. While experience in structural editing is desirable, it is not essential.
Working from the office a minimum of 3 days a week, you'll get the chance to learn from and collaborate with colleagues in every department and discipline. While this role does not involve commissioning, you will still have the chance to gain valuable experience in identifying and acquiring new talent, as well as assisting with signing up authors. It is a fantastic opportunity for an editorial assistant eager to advance their career, or an editor looking to transition into the world of lifestyle publishing and contribute to creating books that will be enjoyed by readers around the world for years to come.
To apply, please submit your most recent CV and a cover letter by midnight on Sunday 7th September.
