The Job Profile

Simon & Schuster UK's Adult Editorial Non-Fiction team is looking for an Editor to join Gallery Books, a quality commercial imprint. Our authors include Bob Mortimer, Britney Spears, Richard E. Grant, Jess Phillips and Jeremy Renner.



Reporting to the Publishing Director, Gallery, Non-Fiction, the Editor will have the opportunity to start to build and grow their own list alongside working on putting titles through the editorial system.



The Job Role

The Editor's role is to work in the busy and exciting Gallery team, both on the Publishing Director's books as well as their own list. They will review submissions, generate new project ideas, and oversee all stages of the publishing process from preparing costings and negotiating contracts, to writing copy and briefing jackets. They will have strong cross-departmental communication, effective author and agent care, and enthusiastic title positioning. Additionally, the role contributes to the imprint's overall strategy, including backlist development.



The Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the zeitgeist, following trends and identifying publishing opportunities.

They will have the ability to manage their workload efficiently, and take titles from acquisition to final publication. They will have the confidence and poise to be an ambassador and champion for Simon & Schuster UK both internally and externally. They will have the ability to build strong relationships across the publishing industry, both in the UK and internationally.
