Faber and Faber is a leading independent literary publisher based in central London. We have a rich literary history dating back to the 1920s. Our list of writers includes Simon Armitage, Sebastian Barry, Mary Jean Chan, Wendy Cope, Rachel Cusk, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Akwaeke Emezi, Marina Hyde, Kazuo Ishiguro, Max Porter, Sally Rooney, Le\xc3\xafla Slimani and Gary Younge, and a backlist including the works of T. S. Eliot, William Golding, Seamus Heaney, P. D. James and Sylvia Plath, among many others. Faber is also a supplier of sales and distribution services to independent publishers and has a market-leading creative writing school.

Faber is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support the Poetry Editor and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Poetry Department.

Key tasks include:

  • Administrative and diary support for the Poetry Editor
  • Management of the production and publication schedules across the list
  • Providing in-house liaison and administrative support for the wider Poetry team
  • Sending author mailings and finished copies
  • Attending and assisting at events
  • Acting as primary contact for external Poetry enquiries
  • Managing unsolicited submissions, providing the Poetry Editor with a monthly list
  • Liaising with production and marketing staff, freelance proofreaders and copy-editors as required.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Previous administrative and publishing experience will be an advantage, as will a keen interest in contemporary poetry and literature.

This is a full-time, permanent role, based in our London office. We are also open to a four-day a week part-time arrangement.
