Job Description

We're the UK's leading premium publisher, and the people behind iconic media brands such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire, ELLE, Harper's Bazaar and Country Living. We've created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. We'll always try to develop and improve, we trust each other to do our best, and we have fun as we build on our heritage to make history.

The Role...

As the Editorial Business Manager, you will play a key role in managing editorial budgets and operations for 13 of Hearst's iconic magazine brands. Working closely with the Editorial Business Director, brand teams, and production hubs, you will ensure that editorial processes, from cost control and freelance management to rights procurement and contract administration, run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with company policies.

Main Duties...

Support the Editorial Business Director with day-to-day editorial budget control and cost management across the business. Approve and process invoices, expenses, and timesheets for editorial teams. Monitor, manage, and report on both team-specific and overall brand budgets. Ensure accurate cost reporting and maintain compliance with internal policies and processes. Oversee commissioning and contractual processes, ensuring correct documentation and approvals. Manage freelance operations, including onboarding, contracts, and payment schedules. Maintain the smooth running of editorial systems and administrative workflows.

What We Are Looking For...

Proven experience managing complex budgets, ideally within creative or editorial environments. Excellent Excel and Google Sheets skills with a strong numerical and analytical mindset. Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate across editorial, finance, and legal teams. Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
