LocationHome based, living in one of the following areas: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Tyne & Wear or TeessideSummaryWe are looking for a talented Editorial Operations Assistant and Multimedia Journalist to join our Local TV family to serve audiences across our TV and digital platforms. You will be passionate about local storytelling, and have a clear understanding of how to bring the biggest stories to life through video, text, and pictures.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Editorial Operations Assistant and Multimedia Journalist is responsible for the quality control and distribution of incoming video files from across the network. The successful candidate will play a key role in making sure our content is in the right place at the right time, is broadcast compliant, legally sound and to the best possible quality it can be.You will work closely with the Head of Channels and video journalists from across our network, making sure we are fulfilling our editorial goals and daily operations are running smoothly. Attention to detail is essential, as well as good organisational skills.You will also produce your own original content such as headline bulletins, news reports and video content for digital audiences and platforms.Key Skills & Requirements

  • Good organisational skills
  • Confident in your ability both in front of and behind the camera
  • A passion for local storytelling
  • Detailed knowledge of news, current affairs and social trends
  • Strong understanding of what audiences want from news on all platforms
  • Ability to create video to bring stories to life
  • Experience using broadcast or mobile filming equipment
  • Excellent writing skills
  • A sound understanding of legal, ethical and regulatory considerations
  • Strong editorial judgement
  • Ability to come up with fresh and engaging ideas that resonate with local people
  • A journalism qualification or exceptional ability in content creation
  • Able to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced daily news environment
  • A willingness to learn new skills in the face of regular change
  • Creative, confident and committed
  • A clean UK driving licence (preferred)
