This role is funded by the John Lyons Charity Inclusive Internship fund and is aimed at supporting young people with learning disabilities into the creative workforce. You should only apply for this role if you:

live in one of the following London boroughs:

Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea and the Cities of London and Westminster.



In addition, the successful candidate will be supported in the role by Pursuing Independent Paths (PIP) who will provide job coaching and support to the successful candidate.

Fixed term contract, Oct 2025 - Aug 2026

Hours:

Usual working hours are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11am-3pm

Salary:

8,642.40 per annum

Role Summary





As an Education and Community Intern, you will support with the administration and delivery of our

Take the Lead

programme.




Take the Lead is a free employability programme from The Old Vic for students in years 11-13 that uses theatre techniques and creative workshops to build on five core skills: communication, self-management, self-belief, teamwork and problem-solving.



Key Areas of responsibility




The Education and Community Intern will support the Education Manager (Take the Lead) by:

Supporting with workshop and event delivery, setting up the space, greeting and signing-in participants and helping to pack down events and workshops. Preparing workshop resources. Undertaking data entry and research. Supporting with email communication with schools and external partners. Data entry of evaluation and equal opportunities forms. Research and update our database of contacts to support with recruitment for the following year. Attending regular all staff meetings Representing The Old Vic at various events and ensure its reputation is maintained

There will also be the opportunity to shadow and support other members of the Education and Community team and other departments in the theatre, depending on the interests of the candidate.

Person Specification



Essential - for this role you should:

Be interested in theatre Be interested in working with young people and community engagement Be interested in learning about office administration Have some experience of Microsoft or willingness to learn Have a positive attitude towards learning Have a learning disability Be aged 18-29 Live in the John Lyon s Charity's Beneficial Area: Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea and the Cities of London and Westminster.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check as the role may interact with vulnerable adults and/or children.
