Employability projects
We have delivered a range of projects since 2021 which incorporate training and employability. These are designed to help Londoners move from unemployment or underemployment into good work.
We are working with universities, colleges, training providers, local authorities, Mayors Skills Academies and Hubs and sector bodies that have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of skills and employment programmes across London. Experience / Skills
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit London residents (also referred to as Project Participants) onto training projects, ensuring their eligibility for funded support.
  • Onboard participants by helping them identify career/learning goals and creating a SMART action plan with them.
  • Manage a caseload of London residents and provide them with careers support, employability/soft skills, identifying training and development opportunities on offer across the SBI Training projects.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the projects team and relevant colleagues within LSBU Group, partner education/training providers and relevant external organisations to increase the supply of good quality careers pathways (including jobs, work placements, apprenticeships, further/higher education and traineeships) for all participants, particularly for those from underrepresented groups.
  • Act as the main contact point for project participants, providing relevant information on the project, assisting them with the registration and required paperwork to confirm their eligibility, completing a needs assessment and bespoke training plan for each participant, providing guidance and employability/soft skills training and referring them to additional/specialist support if required.
  • Support the SBI Training projects team to deliver an effective and responsive service that aligns to local skills and labour needs.
  • Support the funder claim process by collecting and verifying the required evidence from participants and supporting the project team to compile it in accordance with the ESF/GLA Guidelines
  • Take responsibility for the safeguarding and wellbeing of participants and where necessary work with the safeguarding team to refer any safeguarding concerns and supporting participants throughout any safeguarding process
  • Ensure that any personal conversations had with project participants around their personal or additional needs are held confidentially in line with LSBU and donor policies and procedures around GDPR and safeguarding
  • Support the ESF Project Manager and the Project Coordinator with organising events, project meetings and workshops, as well as attending relevant events to promote the SBI training progression pathways to relevant audiences.
  • Contribute to maintaining document control procedures, by producing and collecting documents from project stakeholders, updating and filing documents relevant to individual?s recruitment, their progression, achievement of their career goals and their feedback of the support provided in line with the University?s and donors? Data Protection policies.
  • Perform other duties as may reasonably be requested.
  • Support the usage of a CRM system to effectively record participants progression and their engagement with SBI Training projects.
  • Engage effectively with education and training providers, employers, JCPs, local libraries and other local organisations and charities in maximising resources to effectively promote the SBI Training agenda and to celebrate good practice and successes. This will include compiling case studies and contributing to good news stories.
Qualifications
PERSON SPECIFICATION
  • Professional qualification (or equivalent) in Information, Advice and Guidance/Coaching/Career Information and Advice.
  • Experience of accurately compiling evidence for funding bodies
  • At least 3 years? experience in supporting adults into education and employment
  • Experienced in supporting unemployed or economically inactive individuals to develop, grow and enter education or employment and lower paid employees to progress in their career.
  • Empathy, ability to identify participants? areas of need and offer advice in a non-judgmental way.
  • Experience in delivering soft skills/employability training and presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral, and ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the barriers to employment. Experience in offering information, advice and guidance around employment issues and signposting to relevant resources/organisations.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic approach to work with the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain a professional approach even in difficult circumstances
  • Well organised with the ability to prioritise workloads and deal with changing priorities
  • Understanding of Data Protection principles and their applicability to collecting and storing personal information.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks
  • Good knowledge of IT systems, including MS Office applications. Understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems would be considered an asset.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, equal opportunities and diversity and their practical application.
