Candidates must be able to work as part of a team, multitask, be creative and work individually under pressure. Knowledge and experience of practical skills such as woodworking, metalworking and/or sewing is desirable but not essential.Wildwood Trust is a unique British charity, dedicated to rewilding Britain through the restoration of wild habitats and reintroduction of extinct species. Wildwood took over the running of Escot Park in Devon to develop a new rewilding visitor centre. Our mission is to inform and inspire people about the wildlife that was once harboured in our wild woods and wild places and give them the inspiration, skills and ability to play an active role in its protection and restoration. The Saxon Village is a unique learning resource that enables us to reconnect our visitors to historical ways of living closely with the surrounding environment.The main role of the Education Assistant is to ensure our visitors enjoy their time in the Saxon Village at Wildwood Escot.This is an active position where you will play a role as an Anglo Saxon to bring the village to life, chatting to our visitors and helping them learn about the history of Britain and about the wildlife park as a conservation charity.You will run activities in the village to ensure visitors have a valuable experience, which is both engaging and unique.There will be opportunities to assist with other public engagement activities that are animal or conservation related. These activities usually involve craft activities, themed games and occasionally bio-fact touch tables which provide informal learning opportunities.The post holder will be expected to assist with larger park events and to work additional hours as are reasonably necessary to fulfill the requirements of the post; this may include additional days during the week to help over the summer holidays or assist with school groups.We require applicants to have at least two years' experience in outdoor education, wildlife conservation or history.Appointment to the above position is subject to successful candidates receiving full clearance from the Disclosure Barring Service and two reference checks.Please visit our website to download a full job description and person specification.The successful candidate will attend an induction and full training for the role.Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
