We currently have an opportunity for an Education Coordinator to join our team based in Bristol. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of up to 30,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
The role
At Pennon, we recognise that it is really important to educate future generations about the value of water, as a precious resource. We think it is essential that everyone knows where water comes from, understands its importance and the pressures our water resources are under.
That is where our education programme comes in, reaching thousands of students and teachers both in schools and through our dedicated Education Centre, Flow Zone, located at Bough Beech reservoir. In addition, the Education team run activities including talks, workshops, and assemblies in schools, as well as for groups including Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides.
What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the development, management, and administration of the education programme to ensure consistently high standards are maintained.
  • Deliver a wide variety of educational activities in schools and other environments.
  • Work with the Head of Communications and the wider Communications team, to develop successful new initiatives and projects to ensure the programme is continuously improving.
  • Work with the Head of Communications the wider Communications team to improve awareness of the programme to maximise bookings.
  • Keep organised records to enable comprehensive reports on activity to be produced on a regular basis.
  • Adapt the approach and materials as required to ensure those with special educational needs can benefit from the programme.
  • Liaise with the Health & Safety Manager to ensure relevant risk assessments and other compliance obligations are satisfactory.
  • Maintain a catalogue of high-quality resources in a variety of formats.
  • Manage the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge re-accreditation process every two years.
  • Keep abreast of the education sector agenda to understand the different challenges facing schools and participate in the water industry's Education Forum to share best practice.
  • Establish and maintain regular contact with key stakeholders in order to build productive working relationships that will benefit the programme.
What we are looking for:
  • Good knowledge of the education sector, ideally with Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 teaching experience
  • Experience producing engaging teaching materials in a variety of formats
  • Deliver results with limited supervision and tight deadlines
  • Stakeholder management
  • Experience working in partnership with other organisations on delivery and promoting and expanding programmes to new audiences
  • Ability to travel and work flexibly
