About us
The Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) Education Administration and Student Experience (EASE) team is made up of four areas: Clinical, Programmes, Research, and Student Wellbeing & Casework. The team is led by three Education Managers and supported by Education Coordinators across the teams.
About the role
We are seeking a proactive, flexible and highly organised Education Coordinator to lead the administration of two of the UK's largest UKRI-funded Doctoral Training Programmes (DTPs): the LIDo BBSRC DTP and the UCL-Birkbeck MRC DTP, both based in the Division of Biosciences.
Together, these programmes support approximately 200 postgraduate research students across a consortium of London universities.
This is a student-facing role with a strong emphasis on cohort building and engagement across the DTPs. You will work closely with Graduate Tutors, academic leads, central UCL teams, and external partners to deliver a high-quality student experience.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Line management of a team of grade 6 staff
  • Manage student recruitment cycles, admissions, enrolment, scholarships, Coordinate outreach activities, and annual resident retreats, student symposiums and other key events
  • Organise and attend all residential retreats.
  • Liaise with key external stakeholders within the LIDo consortium (Birkbeck, King's College London, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Natural Resources Institute, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, Royal Veterinary College, University College London) and their associated partners, including Kew Gardens, Discovery Park and the Natural History Museum.
  • Oversea finances, student records, and engagement monitoring
  • Record and monitor student interruptions
  • Ensure students and staff queries are responded to professionally and promptly
  • Contribute to wider activities across the Research Team and support other programmes as needed
This is a varied and impactful role requiring excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You'll be part of a supportive team and have access to training and development opportunities to grow your skills.
Working Arrangements
This is a hybrid role. Flexibility is essential, as there will be peak periods, particularly around student-facing activities, when increased on-campus and external venue presence will be required. In addition, during induction and cohort building periods, the postholder may be required to be on-site five days a week for up to six-week periods at a time to support operational delivery. Overnight travel during the residential retreats is also required.
We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible.

About you
You're a proactive, solutions-focused individual with strong organisational skills and an excellent eye for detail. You're confident working both independently and collaboratively, and you bring a positive, patient, and professional approach to everything you do. Strong communication skills are essential.
