With daily professional support from?a highly qualified and?inspirational?leadership team, you will work one-to-one with young people?who, until they work with you, may well be struggling to find their place in life. This might be?because of?challenges at home, social and school life or they might be impacted by their social, emotional, mental or physical health needs that means they require a?one-to-one?approach.

Your background in education will enable you to become our specialist in academic assessment, delivery, resource creation and supporting and coaching other mentors, to ensure the education that we offer to each of our students is right for them and enables them to achieve, progress and enjoy learning. Plus, you will be able to teach Maths or English one-one and in small groups, up to and including GCSE level.

You?will need to create a personalised action plan?of?educational support?with?each student and deliver it. You will enable them to learn, develop skills, and get ready for the next chapter of their life.

You will work as part of a small and rapidly growing team to enable our young people to positively reconnect with life and learning.

Your role will require you to:

Deliver one-to-one and small group mentoring and tutoring to students in a variety of community settings. Use your own vehicle to safely transport students to and from their home settings to agreed community locations for mentoring and tutoring. Liaise?with a wide variety of multi-agency staff to identify pupils at?risk of disaffection and provide extra support to overcome barriers to learning. Share best practice with other staff and learning mentors and co-ordinate work to meet?pupils' needs in a focussed and integrated manner. This would include leading coaching and professional development with mentors. Actively listening to pupils' concerns and form plans, with the pupil and their parents' involvement, to help address these. Provide support, advice and guidance tailored to pupils' individual needs. Organise activities, e.g. maths or science based sessions. Implement strategies to support pupils in building their confidence and self-esteem. Assist in transition arrangements for pupils moving into a school or to the next stage of their education. Understand how children learn best and use this knowledge and skills to help close the academic gap for pupils with additional learning and wellbeing needs. Undertake any administrative duties relevant to the role. Embed B2's values and ethos in all aspects of working life. Undertake additional tasks as directed.
Learning

Assess the needs of students and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to enable them to overcome barriers to learning. Help raise and maintain the standards of achievement and improve attendance and behaviour. Establish productive mentoring relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations. Help relevant staff develop and implement student behaviour plans. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students. Support pupils consistently while recognising and responding to their individual needs. Encourage students to interact and work co-operatively with other staff and engage in activities. Promote student independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement and self-reliance. Prepare up to GCSE level work in either Maths or English. Assessment of work completed by students, up to GCSE level Develop a curriculum policy, in conjunction with our leadership team, and implement it. Create education resources to enable mentors to deliver in line with the curriculum policy. Introduce baseline assessments and lead on implementing them for all students. Ensure these assessments form the basis of personalised learning programmes for each student. Be responsible for and lead on the delivery of all external assessments. Act as the internal verified person and exams contact for B2 in Gloucestershire. Deliver professional development, training and coaching to all staff, small groups and individuals to up-skill mentors in assessment, preparation and delivery of educational materials.
Organisation

Organise and manage appropriate learning environments and resources in community settings. Manage student behaviour constructively, promoting self-control and student independence. Organise and lead student individual and group learning sessions as required.
Communication

Secure positive family support and involvement through regular contact. Support the role of parents in students' learning and contribute to meetings with parents to provide constructive feedback on their child's progress and achievement. Liaise with parents about strategies to best support their child's behaviour, attendance?and any social or emotional needs. Be a point of contact for pupils and families receiving support. Support the Head of Service to liaise with external agencies and school partners, as?necessary.
Monitoring

Ensure policies are followed and practices adhered to, and report on the effectiveness of?policy implementation. Monitor and evaluate student responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies. Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports, including daily, weekly, and termly, as required, on student achievement, progress and other details, ensuring evidence of these is recorded. Monitor the effectiveness of individual learning and progress and report to the Head of?Service when necessary.
Essential?skills

Competency in terms of qualifications or life skills equivalent to at least NVQ Level 3. GCSE grade C or above in maths and English, or equivalent. Experience in delivering education to children
Desirable?skills

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) A relevant qualification at degree level or higher.

The successful candidate will,

Ensure that first and foremost you need to keep our children and young people safe. Provide evidence of an enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undertake one. Have suitable references from their previous employer or volunteer body. Create a positive, aspirational, and safe ethos that is young person focused. Be an effective and collegiate member of the team. Work closely with others, when required, but also often need to be independent and get on with it, using your own initiative. Be comfortable with lone working. Ensure B2 policies are always adhered to.

35 Hours per week - we envisage the post holder to deliver approximately 10 hours of mentoring per week and the remainder will be a variety of tasks described in this advert, leading education delivery across B2 in Gloucestershire. Monday to Friday Term time only - with an appreciation that sometimes we are called on during the school holidays. No weekends
