Term of opportunity: This opportunity involves participation in two programmes during the Spring and Summer terms of 2026, starting in January 2026
Commitment: This role involves attending a mandatory in-person training session at Manchester King's Trust Centre, along with up to 3 hours of online training.

  • The volunteering itself runs for 8 weeks, with approximately one hour per week spent in schools, plus some additional time for planning and preparation.
  • Each programme runs for eight weeks, with approximately one hour per week spent delivering sessions in schools, plus additional time for planning and preparation.
  • Education Mentors are expected to support two programmes per academic year, and attend at least six out of eight Mosaic sessions during each programme.
As a Volunteer Education Mentor on our Mosaic programme, you'll join a dynamic team to deliver 8 mentoring sessions over 8 weeks aimed at building group rapport and covering essential topics like communication, goal setting and problem solving. These sessions will be with a consistent group of young people, ensuring you can build meaningful connections and see their progress over time. You'll be supported throughout this process by a King's Trust Youth Development Lead, who will provide guidance and resources to help you succeed.
Full training will be provided to ensure you feel confident and prepared, please be expected to commit to an in person training, as well as some virtual training. An educational background is not required, but a genuine interest in engaging with and developing the skills of young people is essential. Session content will be provided, and you will be expected to develop and review the plans each week. Key skills required are effective communication, organisation and reliability.
