Location: Based in Greater Manchester or within approximately 45 minutes of travel (see job advert below for more information).
Term of opportunity: This opportunity involves participation in two programmes during the Spring and Summer terms of 2026, starting in January 2026
Commitment: This role involves attending a mandatory in-person training session at Manchester King's Trust Centre, along with up to 3 hours of online training.

• The volunteering itself runs for 8 weeks, with approximately one hour per week spent in schools, plus some additional time for planning and preparation.
• Each programme runs for eight weeks, with approximately one hour per week spent delivering sessions in schools, plus additional time for planning and preparation.
• Education Mentors are expected to support two programmes per academic year, and attend at least six out of eight Mosaic sessions during each programme.

As a Volunteer Education Mentor on our Mosaic programme, you'll join a dynamic team to deliver 8 mentoring sessions over 8 weeks aimed at building group rapport and covering essential topics like communication, goal setting and problem solving. These sessions will be with a consistent group of young people, ensuring you can build meaningful connections and see their progress over time. You'll be supported throughout this process by a King's Trust Youth Development Lead, who will provide guidance and resources to help you succeed.
Mosaic school locations and dates:

• Location: East Didsbury (Current Priority)

• Every week for 1 hour across a consecutive 8-week period starting W/c 12th January to W/c 9th March

• Time: 2:05pm-3:05pm

• Location: Crumpsall

• Every week for 1 hour across a consecutive 8-week period starting W/c 9th March to W/c 11th May

• Time: 3-4pm

• Location: Wigan (Limited availability)

• Every week for 1 hour across a consecutive 8-week period starting W/c 2nd March to W/c 11th May

• Time: 10am-11am

• Location: Crumpsall

• Every week for 1 hour across a consecutive 8-week period starting W/c 20th April to W/c 15th June

• Time: 2:05pm-3:05pm

• Location: Worsley

• Every week for 1 hour across a consecutive 8-week period starting W/c 11th May to W/c 6th July

• Time: 3-4pm

Each programme may include a short break due to half-term and Easter holidays, during which students will not be in school. You will not be required to attend sessions during these periods.
IMPORTANT: Programme locations, dates, and times may vary each academic year - flexibility and adaptability are essential.
An educational background is not required, but a genuine interest in engaging with and developing the skills of young people is essential. Session content will be provided, and you will be expected to develop and review the plans each week. Key skills required are effective communication, organisation and reliability.
Full training will be provided to ensure you feel confident and prepared, please be expected to commit to an in person training, as well as some virtual training.
