Educational SEND Mentor

Career Teachers are looking to appoint an inspirational and dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a named student with an Educational Health Care Plan/ SEND in a school based in Manchester.

The role of a TA will require you to work on a one-to-one basis and with small groups of pupils who needs additional support and have a range of SEND. You will work closely with the class teacher to help students across a range of subjects and activities, helping them to develop both academically and socially. You will promote positive behaviour and ensure the young person has access to learning whilst also being involved in raising attainment for the pupil.

This position is specifically for a candidate that has experience dealing with pupils either in a mainstream or SEND setting who have additional needs.

To be successful in this SEND Teaching Assistant role you will need.

  • Experience working with young people with SEND.
  • A calm and positive attitude
  • Excellent behaviour management with knowledge of various de-escalation techniques
  • A Flexible approach
  • A good understanding of a EHCP and supporting students with additional needs.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and communication skills
  • Be able to build strong relationships with both students and staff.
  • Experience of implementing specific learning strategies and routines.
