Job Description

The Entry Exit System (EES) is being implemented by the European Union. The system aims to record the entries and exits of non-EU citizens crossing an external border of the Schengen area. The EES reinforces border control systems by managing the data of travellers to Schengen countries.


The EES Zone Controller is responsible for the control, organisation and supervision of the real time operations at the EES Zone. You will monitor and intervene on the status of the system and action in real time based on PAF and traffic levels. The EES Zone Controller will also organise staff according to the needs identified and requested by the French Border Control Staff - Police Aux Frontieres (PAF) and be the operational interface between the Passenger Customer Service Leader (PCSL) and the PAF Authorities.

To facilitate the smooth operation and fluidity of the EES Zone in liaison with the external agencies. Responsible for operating the EES Zone Management Application in real time, to optimise vehicle capacity according to the requests made by PAF. Building strong working relationships with PAF, contractor staff and other operational teams. Report to the PCSL any performance issues, delays and any specific needs to improve the service in the EES Zone. To be an ambassador for the Passenger Service and promote the safety vision for excellence.

Support and implement safety initiatives with particular emphasis on the reduction of all accidents, always ensuring compliance with the Company's Health and Safety policy and rules.


Providing clear and concise reports with all necessary supporting documents.
Responsible for briefing the EES Zone team and monitoring that they work to procedures and respect standards, whilst ensuring that best working practices are recognised and encouraged, supporting staff where appropriate. Engage with all operational staff in the delivery of excellent customer service, which in turn will achieve fluidity and promote the company's general objectives and operating principles in a positive spirit. To be competent in all aspects of the EES zone.

Qualifications and Experience



Educated to GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English. Experience of working within the passenger environment would be an advantage. Excellent computer knowledge and skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), web tools and phone-based apps. Experience of working shifts, preferably on a 24-hour basis. A valid Driving Licence and Passport are essential. The ability to communicate in French and/or another European language is desirable.

Adept in building excellent relationships with others, contributing to a positive team atmosphere. Ability to work autonomously and within a team, always maintaining a high standard of service. Excellent time management, organisational and prioritisation skills. Ability to demonstrate proven decision-making skills and a problem-solving approach, acting with confidence in real-time. Able to work well on own initiative, remain calm, customer-focused, and in control when working under pressure. Motivated by change and the learning of new systems and technology. Reliable, punctual, and flexible, to meet operational demands and business needs. Ability to project oneself in a way that promotes the Eurotunnel image and brand values. To work a roster, which covers a 24-hour period, 7 days a week.
