Job overview



As a teacher, you are responsible for planning and delivering engaging English lessons based on an assigned textbook. You may be asked to teach on any one of our courses depending on experience and qualifications (adults (16+) and/or juniors (11-15) at levels ranging from Beginner to Advanced) using up-to-date teaching methodologies and approaches. This job will also involve organizing and delivering educational and cultural activities for our students throughout the year.

Responsibilities



Teaching:



To plan and deliver engaging English lessons which benefit learners inside and outside the classroom, using the assigned textbook as the foundation for lesson planning and teaching. To plan lessons well in advance, demonstrating an understanding of the curriculum, objectives and student needs. To take responsibility for the care and maintenance of teaching materials and the neat and tidy appearance of classrooms, staff room, and common areas. To assist students with enquiries and requests. To set homework on a regular basis and return it to the students in a timely manner. To ensure that lessons and breaks start and finish in accordance with the school timetable

Administrative:



To keep accurate daily records of planning and work done, attendance registers and other associated records. To prepare, administer and mark oral and written tests as set out by the school's policy. To provide students with written feedback bi-weekly. To attend and contribute to staff meetings.

Safeguarding:



To adhere to all LTC policies and procedures and to implement our Safeguarding policy at all times. To highlight to senior management areas of concern, e.g. health and safety matters, issues of student welfare, poor or troublesome student behaviour or attendance, and to assist senior management in resolving these areas of concern. To be proactive in the care and welfare of students and where necessary in support of other members of staff. To be aware of incidents of bullying or anti-social behaviour and to deal with them in an appropriate manner according to school policy.

Residential position

To teach up to 30 hours per week
On a rota with other members of the residential team:

To assist with breakfast/dinner duty, and night duties To assist with provision of pastoral care in the residence To participate in evening activities
Please note this role is subject to the government offset for accommodation of 74.62 per week.*

Person Specification



First Degree or equivalent (Level 6 Qualification) or TEFLQ Diploma - Cambridge DELTA or equivalent in the absence of a degree TEFLI Certificate - Cambridge CELTA or equivalent PGCE in Primary/Secondary/MFL QTS Strong communication skills Flexible Good time management skills Ability to use own initiative and plan lessons independently Reliable, responsible, punctual, professional
