About this role...
Supporting the EHS Manager as the operational go to person for all things health and safety related on the site. Working closely with operational teams, engineering and warehousing to help support end to end delivery of promoting a culture of safety first while keeping everything aligned with UK legislations and industry standards.
You will support and take lead actions in audits, help to drive the accountability for improving safety processes and champion better practices to help drive safety in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a HSE partner across the business--providing guidance, support, and challenging on matters.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure a safe working environment.
Effective liaison with contractors at management and site levels to establish and improve safety, health and environmental culture.
Ensure accurate COSHH documentation and training across the site.
Support accident investigations and work with the EHS Manager to provide recommendations for prevention.
Coordinate and report safety inspections, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and report derived observations, risks, and lessons learnt.
Review and align documentation with internal systems that are used in PPG.
Conduct risk assessments, near-miss investigations and safety audits, helping to support drive to continuous improvements ideas.
Promote site-wide safety engagement and celebrate success stories
Coordinate emergency drills and analyse results to optimize protocols.
Support cross-functional actions related to the Safety365 culture transformation project.
Support and manage external regulatory relationships and lead internal/external audits.
Role requirements:
A degree in Environmental Science, Safety, or a related field - nice to have.
Minimum 3 years' work experience with HSE, with a background in FMCG / Manufacturing environment.
Minimum requirement NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health & safety qualification - may consider working towards completion.
Strong understanding of UK EHS legislation
Hands-on, people-first approach to safety with a solutions-focused mindset
Excellent communication and coaching skills
Project management and communication skills
Practical experience in risk assessment and conducting audits
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Knowledge of route cause analysis and incident investigation.
Demonstratable experience in dealing with 3rd party contractors in relation to HSE.
