Are you ready to play a key role in shaping democracy while thriving in a fast-paced, data-driven environment?

If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with data, and has a passion for democratic engagement, then this could be the perfect role for you. You'll be part of a team that plays a vital role in upholding the integrity of our electoral processes, ensuring every vote counts and every voice is heard. If you're detail-oriented, confident working with legislation, and committed to delivering excellent public service, we'd love to hear from you.

What's the role all about?

As an Electoral Services Officer, you'll support the Electoral Services Manager in delivering key statutory duties for the Electoral Registration Officer and Returning Officer. You'll provide expert advice on electoral legislation and procedures, help promote voter registration and participation, and ensure the smooth running of elections. From managing sensitive enquiries to overseeing the Electoral Management System and coordinating polling staff, your work will be central to maintaining trust and transparency in our democratic processes.

What will your day look like?

You will be verifying voter eligibility, processing postal vote applications, or preparing ballot boxes for an upcoming election. You'll liaise with internal and external stakeholders, manage temporary election staffing, and support the publication of the Electoral Register. You'll also lead on training polling staff, handle complex correspondence, and act as system administrator for the Electoral Management System. During election periods, expect a dynamic environment with evening and weekend work to meet critical deadlines.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with experience in electoral services or democratic processes, and a strong background in customer service. You'll need excellent attention to detail, strong administrative skills, and the ability to work discreetly in a politically sensitive environment. A good understanding of electoral law, GDPR, and data management is essential. You should be confident using Microsoft Office and electoral software, and able to work flexibly across sites. We're also looking for someone with a can-do attitude, a positive outlook, and who thrives as a team player. Strong multitasking abilities, excellent organisational and time management skills are key to succeeding in this role.

Why join us?

Joining our Electoral Services team means becoming part of a service that directly supports the democratic foundations of our community. You'll be working in a role that's both meaningful and dynamic--where your attention to detail, commitment to public service, and ability to work under pressure will make a real difference. We offer a collaborative and inclusive environment where your contributions are valued, and your professional development is supported. If you're looking for a role that combines purpose, challenge, and the opportunity to grow, this is your chance to be part of something truly impactful.
