We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead Push Power's electrical design function, ensuring the delivery of compliant, buildable, and cost-effective electrical designs across our renewable energy projects. You will combine technical expertise with strong leadership, overseeing the design team, managing third-party designers, and providing cross-departmental support. This role will be pivotal in enhancing project efficiency, quality, and delivery while supporting the company's ambitious growth in the renewable energy sector.

Essential Responsibilities
Technical & Design Responsibilities
Undertake and review detailed electrical design & calculations including AC/DC cable sizing, LV AC grading studies, cabinet and connection design
Prepare and check Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical drawings, and predesign layouts (containment routing, elevations, etc.)
Design, commission and support communication and monitoring systems, including on-site and remote support
Support G99 and G100 applications, liaising with inverter manufacturers and ensuring compliance
Produce Bills of Materials, costings, and Scopes of Works, ensuring technical and commercial alignment
Lead and manage the internal design team, conducting development reviews and supporting professional growth
Maintain ownership and accountability of all design projects, ensuring clarity and proactive problem solving
Implement a structured multi-stage project review process (requirements review, design review, buildability check, design freeze, construction approval)
Manage design variations through a robust version and change control process
Oversee quality assurance, attending key site stages to verify adherence to design and conducting final site inspections
Manage external design subcontractors to ensure high-quality, consistent outputs aligned with internal standards
Develop and maintain a flexible design programme that adapts to changing project requirements.
Cross-functional & Commercial Responsibilities
Provide technical support during construction phases, including ad hoc calculations and site queries
Support project management teams with design-related technical input, ensuring seamless design-to-construction handover
Engage with clients and stakeholders, delivering professional, clear technical communication
Support supplier and manufacturer engagement, identifying optimal solutions for equipment and monitoring
Assist in NICEIC and MCS compliance, acting as Qualified Supervisor (future planned responsibility).
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related discipline; alternatively, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering with substantial design and management experience (desirable)
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) (essential)
Proven experience with G99/G100 compliance and UK grid connection requirements (essential)
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards, and/or Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) (desirable)
NICEIC Approved Contractor / Qualified Supervisor experience (desirable)
Familiarity with MCS accreditation (desirable)
Health & Safety certification (IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS) advantageous
Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Amtech, PVSOL, or similar) (essential)
Key Skills
Strong technical expertise in electrical engineering within renewable energy (solar PV and batteries preferred), minimum of 5 years' experience
Proven experience in electrical design calculations, monitoring systems, and compliance with UK standards (G99/G100)
Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop a design team
Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance technical quality with cost-efficiency
Effective communicator, able to liaise confidently with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Problem-solving mindset with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
