The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.


The Role & Key Responsibilities


The Estates Maintenance team form part of the wider Estates and Facilities department, responsible for managing the built environment within the police owned estate, ensuring that the buildings remain compliant, safe and support the effective delivery of policing in Sussex. The Estates Maintenance team are responsible for service delivery of a wide range of Hare Facilities Management (FM) services on behalf of Sussex Police.


We are pleased to advise there is an exciting Electrical Engineer role in the Estates Maintenance team base in Hammonds Drive, Eastbourne, that could enable you to fulfil your aspirations.


The Electrical Engineer is a key role within the department responsible for delivering a professional, efficient and effective multi-disciplined Hard FM service supporting our core business of operational policing. Largely responsible for the delivery of our Hard FM function, this important customer facing role, provides a variety of day-to-day activities including Electrical pro-active & re-active maintenance, Minor Electrical Installation and Electrical testing.


You will form part of a wider Estates Maintenance team responsible for a diverse range of sites; from single offices in a shared building to 'multi-building' sites across geographical areas supporting a variety of departments often with individual needs and unique requirements.


Resilient and self-motivated with excellent planning and organising skills, you will be required to effectively balance your scheduled workload whilst having an ability to adapt to changing priorities when required. Communication is key, building working relationships with Estates & Facilities colleagues, contractors and with stakeholders at all sites.

Skills & Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation Electrical of Mechanical- City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds 18th Edition (We will consider 17th edition) Inspection and Testing 2391/2 or equivalent AM2

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Extensive experience of operating autonomously within a commercial buildings maintenance Experience with complex electrical systems installing, servicing and maintaining electrical systems and appliances in accordance with the current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations. In-depth knowledge and proven experience to install, repair, inspect and test electrical installations and have the ability to fill in correctly, the appropriate Electrical Certificate in testing and inspection, and minor works Knowledge and practical experience of various motor controls, including inverters, emergency light systems and pumps Able to manage stakeholder expectations while working expediently and effectively Able to read, understand and interpret electrical drawings to resolve an electrical fault A comprehensive understanding of electrical health and safety regulations Ability to analyse complex problems and assess possible solutions The ability to explain technical concepts to a wide range of audiences Excellent ability to prioritise and plan effectively and manage conflicting demands Good team working skills with the ability to build strong and effective relationships
