Electrical Engineer
GIC design, manufacture & install a range of high specification vertical form, fill & seal packaging machinery primarily supplying the food manufacturing sector - see www.gic-uk.net for full details. GIC is a growing and successful Company with a close knit team of around 30 employees of whom more than 75% are engineers. GIC offers a relaxed but professional environment and a spirit of collaboration with all staff.
Competitive hourly rate of 19.67 with basic hours of work being 8.00 to 4.30 Monday to Thursday, 8.00 to 12:00 Friday (36hr week). Regular workshop overtime is available outside of these hours at x 1.5 and an uplift is paid for any occasional off-site work. An attendance bonus is payable annually. The Company offers 25 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays) with an option to purchase up to 10 additional days. Pension contributions are matched at 4% for both Company and employee.
Responsibilities
You will be working in a small electrical Team alongside time served engineers manufacturing machinery to high standard specification.
The following are a list of responsibilities for the Electrical Engineers job:
Complete electrical workload to fit in with Company production plans.
Liaise with Lead Electrical Engineer on electrical layout and design of GIC VFFS machinery
A detailed understanding of electrical engineering drawings.
Ability to wire any back plate and panel, however complex independently.
Ability to wire any GIC machine, however complex independently.
Ability to fault finding and test complex GIC machinery. Liaise with software engineer over electrical fault finding issues.
Occasional off-site wiring work will be required.
Occasional electrical maintenance of the site.
Report back improvements in the design or use of electrical componentry within the GIC range.
General assistance in maintaining tidy workshop.
General assistance in moving machinery around workshop.
Education
A relevant electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
A knowledge of panel and machine wiring
Mechanical knowledge would be an advantage but not essential
Experience
Previous electrical engineering experience in a packaging environment
Relevant previous panel wiring experience
Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
