About the Role



We are looking for an experienced

Electrical Engineer

to lead and support our Electrical Technician in delivering planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all electrical systems associated with Captured Landfill Methane, Captured Mineral Methane, Power Response,and Solar sites.

This role involves servicing, fault-finding, and repairing

High-Voltage (HV) and Low-Voltage (LV) systems

linked to

electrical generation and distribution equipment

, including transformers, switchgear, control panels, protection systems, and associated plant.

Working in a collaborative, safety-first environment, you'll contribute to operational excellence and innovation. Ideally, you'll bring experience in power generation or industrial maintenance and demonstrate strong fault-finding skills and a proactive approach.

Location

: This role will primarily serve sites in the

South

West Region, covering South Birmingham, South Wales, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and the Berkshire area



Key responsibilities



Adhere to

HSQE regulations

, report incidents, and take proactive measures to prevent accidents or compliance breaches Conduct

diagnostics and troubleshooting

on equipment experiencing recurring trips or performance challenges to prevent plant downtime or breakdowns Plan the corrective maintenance work orders for the Technician, ensuring defects are resolved the first time Act as

11kV Authorised Person (SAP)

Conduct

root cause analysis of major breakdowns

, produce clear reports, and support corrective actions Prepare and manage budgets for day-to-day operations and project work Undertake development work to implement controlled modifications to the plant Assist with

alternator isolation and disconnection

during engine rebuilds Provide daily work reports and monthly programme updates, including actions Contribute technical input to project plans,

generate work scopes

, and attend project close-out reviews Induct, supervise and

monitor the work of contractors

, ensuring all safety documentation is completed Generation of work scope and task lists for the projects Engage in a culture of

continuous improvement

, attending training courses and contributing to operational innovation

About you



HNC/HND or degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering

Safety-conscious with a proactive approach to health and safety

Experience in electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of HV/LV systems Have a proven technical knowledge working with Alternators Good understanding of Generation Plant and HV Systems Experienced in working with codes of practice and national and international standards Ability to analyse and process information and think critically to solve a problem Experienced

11kV Authorised Person (SAP)

IET

18th Edition Wiring Regulations

would be desirable Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication and reporting abilities Be able to offer telephone-only out-of-hours technical support on a 1/11 week rota

Full UK manual driving license

, preferably with

field-based experience
