Electrical Engineer

Engineering Manager

PURPOSE OF ROLE:



The role will ensure the delivery of innovative, compliant, and manufacturable engineering solutions by developing new products and enhancing existing designs, supporting the company's technical and commercial objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical design of products from concept through to production, with particular emphasis on control panel design, PLC integration, and regulatory compliance documentation. This role requires a proactive engineer who is confident working to high safety and compliance standards within a multi-disciplinary team. They will apply design for manufacture principles, and safety compliance standards, while supporting prototyping, testing, and validation to deliver robust, manufacturable, and technically sound engineering solutions from concept through to production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



Research and develop new product concepts while improving existing designs based on customer, production, and market feedback.

Lead the electrical design of packaged pumping systems, including control panel layouts, schematic diagrams, and cable schedules.

Specify and select electrical components, ensuring suitability for performance, safety, and compliance.

Develop and integrate PLC-based control systems, including configuration, input/output definition, and functional documentation (programming capability desirable but not essential).

Produce and maintain detailed electrical documentation, including design calculations, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.

Ensure all electrical designs comply with Health & Safety regulations, CE/UKCA marking requirements, and relevant UK/EU directives and standards (e.g. LVD, EMC, Machinery Directive).

Support EMC compliance through design best practices and collaboration with external test facilities where required.

Work closely with cross-functional teams (Mechanical Design, Compliance, Manufacturing) to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.

Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and verification/validation testing.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:



Minimum Qualifications



Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

Experience



Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in a product design or development role, ideally involving fluid-handling equipment.

Previous experience working within Research & Development (R&D) or New Product Development (NPD).

Desirable



Proven experience in control panel design for industrial or commercial applications with a working knowledge of

PLC-based control systems

and Variable Speed Drives

CAD and Analysis Skills



Competent in the use of

CAD/schematic design software

(e.g. Solidwork electrical)

Compliance and Standards



Familiarity with applicable

standards and directives

Low Voltage Directive (LVD) EMC Directive Machinery Directive BS EN 60204-1 Electrical Equipment of Machines EN 60335

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 55,000.00-68,000.00 per year
