We are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with
an Electrical Engineer
to work on rail projects from initial brief, through the design and development stage, testing, and fault finding for each project lifecycle.
Roles Responsibilities / Tasks
Working within industry standards to specify electrical components for rolling stock overhaul and maintenance programs.
Assisting production with fault finding during testing of completed work.
Working with customers to source replacement components due to obsolescence.
Creating documentation for testing and overhaul of electrical systems.
Design of new or upgraded electrical systems, updating circuit diagrams, wiring layouts and schematics, and associated documentation.
Development and use of Bills of Material to record material requirements for each project and work with procurement to place orders.
Day to day involvement in delivering the project requirements in terms of interpretation of drawing and engineering specifications, materials ordering and progressing quality control, whilst working closely with the projects team.
Drafting and / or signing off project documentation relating to work completed and working within production to ensure critical tasks are completed by properly assessed and competent staff.
Assist the Engineering and Project management team in developing a standard set of engineering principles. Engage with key stakeholders to ensure these principles are accepted and implemented and work to improve existing documentation to meet a consistently high standard.
Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are in place and observed.
Promote Brodie Engineering's behavioural expectations by enhancing and supporting working relationships within the business, customers and external agencies.
Key Relationships & Contracts
Reporting directly to Engineering Management
Working closely with: Engineering, Projects, Production, Procurement, Store and HSQE.
Key Skills required for the role
Experienced electrical engineer in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant electrical qualification and experience gained in the rail, particularly rolling stock, or other high hazard industry is highly desirable.
High level of understanding engineering drawings and writing technical documents / work instructions from them.
Good communication skills, able to brief staff and customers on progress and next steps.
Problem solving skills, identifying solutions to issues arising or facilitate with the appropriate person.
Project management process understanding, commercial and financial awareness, able to understand project costs and identify efficiencies is highly desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft suite, including MS Project and Power Point
A good understanding of electrical CAD packages, preferably CREO would be beneficial
Able to manage conflicting priorities and communicate cross teams effectively.
